First Date Memoir πŸ˜

Story time!!! Β πŸ˜€

I know a lot of people have memories of their first date but you see ours is quite funny. So I thought I’ll give you a sneak peek into how it all began.

So Tunde and I had grown to Β become very good friends and we were getting closer. However, I was trying hard to keep it platonic and I was doing a good job at that. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So I travelled to Lagos for my dissertation Β research data and Tunde wanted me to get him Oka plantain chips from Lagos. (So you know what to get him if you ever travel to Lagos). He was very particular about the brand he wanted which was more available on the Island. So, I promised to get an alternative that would taste just as nice (I thought). He wondered how I could have judged the taste without having it (I wonder too). Anyway I tried to persuade him and further promised to get or do anything he wanted if it didn’t taste as nice. That was his catch line

Well, as you must have guessed he said it didn’t taste as nice (He was right because I later tasted it and agreed to that fact). Anyway, a promise was pending and my sweetheart decided to strike with this open check β˜‘ . Well, he asked that I go out with him on two dates. I mean this guy sharp well well. He used one stone to kill two beds. I Β had no choice really. I wouldn’t say I saw it coming or I didn’t, I suspected that could happen with the kind of questions he asked about what he could ask for.

Anyway, I got to pick the venue for the first date and what we did and we settled for the National Space Centre, Leicester. We had a splendid time together and he spilled the beans (about wanting a relationship with me).

I was quite happy to be honest as I had grown to like him. So I went to God in prayers as I didn’t want any trial and error approach. I was done doing that, it’s just a journey towards heart ache and a waste of time/life. So I really needed a go ahead from God.

I was ready to wait for as long as I had to wait for clearcut directions and guidance. I knew it would involve a Long distance relationship which I wasn’t sure I wanted to engage in. I mean, I love spending quality time with my friends, how much more my future partner. But it was a Yes from above. A definite YES.

Above all the other assurances I had from God, I had PEACE. Not the type one forces or tries to have, I had a deep seated PEACE about this relationship (I still do).

No relationship should be entered into lightly, albeit a long distance relationship. It can only survive if both of you are committed to the relationship.

Tunde and I were (and still are) both committed to walking the journey and God was (and still is) leading us all the way. We are learning to only follow His footsteps and walk in it. And we are filled joy because He that has began the good work is sure to complete it marvellously.
